Big Ears wrap up pt 1

We had an absolutely amazing week in Knoxville leading up to our performance of Perfect Lives on Fri 3/31/23! SO MUCH gratitude to Elena Moon Park and the whole Big Ears staff (Ashley, Mary, Tom, etc) for making it happen. Here’s a bit of photographic evidence & context in case you missed it.

We had an amazing rehearsal space east of downtown in the studio of Justin Glanville. This is rehearsal for The Supermarket with Claire on oboe. Note that Aliza is holding a can of seltzer whilst playing.

Aliza led off the day with The Park. Her arrangement was very much the “Private Parts” version, with Dr Saji Gopi on tabla. This is just a little rehearsal snap.

We also added the innovation of decorating our hands like Blue Gene in the original video. Check out Brian’s hands in the Park! Shout out to Nina & Sylvia for the hand painting.

Dave did the Bank. The mayor of Knoxville stopped by. Elena & Mimi cleaned up the confetti. We added a feedback section.

Brian did the Supermarket with great clarity & tightness. Gelsey makes a great oldster and bought these glasses just for the occasion! No Church photos just yet but Paul lit things on fire! Gelsey reprised the Backyard, with Dr Saji on tablas again. We had some good animal accompaniment for the Backyard

Paul arranged the Living Room in a beautiful a capella fashion, and we had Black Atticus as Will and Caroline Whitaker as Ida. The Living Room itself was quite something, just don’t lock the bathroom door or you will get stuck in there.

We brought the Jig & Reel down for the Bar. Hopefully we’ll have video of that & The Bank & some other stuff soon! Stay tuned.
