Alia came, pt 2
Last week, Aliza & I met with the very cool Matt Aelmore of Alia Musica in Brooklyn. Matt’s gonna be spearheading the PGH end of details, and he’s a great fellow for the job. He’s got a real knowledge of the piece and knows a bevy of folks who’ll be interested in playing come May. I’ve been thinking about my arrangement of the Supermarket, which will draw heavily on Paul’s previous arrangements, but will have a change in sound from the band. In my dream scenario, there’s a big string section and some brass walking around behind us. Meeting with Matt was terrific in that he encouraged me not to shy away from this dream. These meetings have been helpful in reassuring me (us) to dream big, to know that we have a solid foundation backing us up in this realization. And there’s nothing so cool as that. In three weeks, we’ll go to Pittsburgh and things will continue solidifying there.
